HBO recruits Michelle Pfeiffer to join Robert De Niro for Bernie Madoff film

August 28, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

Variety is reporting that Michelle Pfeiffer is one of the new recruits to the cast of HBO Films’ Bernie Madoff film Wizard of Lies, alongside Robert De Niro.

Barry Levinson (Rain Man) has been hired to direct the film, which is based on the New York Times bestseller from author Diana Henriques, Wizard of Lies, as well as Laurie Sandell’s Truth and Consequences, both of which tell the true story of Madoff’s Ponzi scheme and how it impacted its victims and their families.

As well as adding Pfeiffer, who will play Ruth Madoff, Alessandro Nivola (A Most Violent Year) has also joined the cast of the film as Mark Madoff.

Expect to see Wizard of Lies in 2016.
