Henry Cavill shares update on Amazon’s Warhammer 40,000 TV series

December 12, 2024 by Gary Collinson

Almost two years on after it was first announced that Henry Cavill would be teaming with Games Workshop to bring its classic miniature wargame Warhammer 40,000 to life for Amazon MGM Studios, the former Man of Steel and Geralt of Rivia has taken to social media to give fans an update on the project.

“My incredible team and I, alongside the brilliant minds at Games Workshop, have been working away in concept rooms, breaking down approaches to the enormity and magnificence of the Warhammer world,” states Cavill. “Together, we’ve been sifting through the plethora of incredible characters and poring over old tomes and texts. Our combined efforts have led us to a fantastic place to start our Universe, which has been agreed upon by those up on high at both Amazon and Games Workshop.”

According to a report at Deadline, the original deal between Games Workshop and Amazon called for an agreement between the parties on the creative direction of their Warhammer 40,000 plans by December 2024 in order for the streamer to retain the rights. And while Cavill stopped short of confirming any specifics, the trade claims that the first project out of the deal will be a live-action TV series, with negotiations currently underway with creative talent.

A sci-fi infused companion to Games Workshop’s fantasy tabletop game Warhammer, Warhammer 40,000 takes place in a far flung future where humanity finds itself in a state of perpetual, unwinnable war against various malevolent alien races and supernatural entities.
