Another season of Netflix’s Mindhunter is something David Fincher fans have clamored for, but it’s always seemed out of reach. Now, one of the actors behind the series has offered up an idea on how to return to the twisted world.
Star Holt McCallany was recently promoting his series The Waterfront with CBR and spilled some details on a way to get more Mindhunter. His idea? A trilogy of films!
“So look, you know, I had a meeting with David Fincher in his office a few months ago, and he said to me that there is a chance that it may come back as three two-hour movies, but I think it’s just a chance,” said McCallany. “I know there are writers that are working, but you know, David has to be happy with scripts.”
“I would love it if it were to return,” he continued. “I think, like I said, you know, he gave me a little bit of hope when I had that meeting with him, but the sun, the moon, and the stars would all have to align… It has to do, you know, with David really having the time and the inclination and being happy, you know, with the material. And, you know, that’s a big question mark.”
Minhunter starred Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, and Anna Torv. Fincher served as showrunner throughout the two seasons, helming seven of its nineteen episodes.
Fincher is currently in pre-production for his upcoming collaboration with Quentin Tarantino, The Adventures of Cliff Booth, which will see Brad Pitt reprising his role from Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The follow-up is reportedly set to shoot later this year, with Fincher directing from Tarantino’s script.
