Hornby acquires James Bond license for Corgi and Scalextric products to tie in with SPECTRE

December 8, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Following on from the official announcement of 007’s 24th adventure SPECTRE last week, Hornby has announced that it has secured a worldwide license for Corgi and Scalextric-branded James Bond products, including the upcoming movie and – presumably – Bond’s new Aston Martin DB10.

“James Bond has been a fantastic licensed partnership for our brands going back over 50 years with Corgi’s Aston Martin DB5 from Goldfinger winning the very first toy of the year award in 1965,” said Richard Ames, Chief Executive of Hornby. “Scalextric sets featuring the James Bond movie vehicles are always popular with our consumers and we are looking forward to seeing the new cars featured in the film.”

The new range of products is already under development and will be on display at the London Toy Fair in January 2015 with shipments commencing in the second half of 2015.

SPECTRE is set for release in the UK on October 23rd 2015 in the UK and November 6th 2015 in the States. The film sees Sam Mendes (Skyfall) directing Bond veterans Daniel Craig as James Bond, Rory Kinnear as Tanner, Ben Whishaw as Q, Naomie Harris as Eve Moneypenny, Ralph Fiennes as M and Jesper Christensen as Mr. White, alongside newcomers Andrew Scott (Pride) as Denbigh, Lea Seydoux (Blue is the Warmest Colour) as Madeleine Swann, Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) as Mr. Hinx, Monica Bellucci (The Sorcerer’s Apprentice) as Lucia Sciarra and Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained) as Oberhauser.
