House of Cards renewed for a fifth season; showrunner exits

January 29, 2016 by Thomas Roach

It was announced today that House of Cards will be renewed for a fifth season. However, this comes with some bad news unfortunately as the show’s creator Beau Willimon is stepping down from to take on new projects.

“After five years and four seasons, it’s time for me to move on to new endeavours, but I’m supremely proud of what we’ve built together, wish the show much continued success, and leave it in the hands of a very capable team,” said Willimon.

He also thanked fans on his twitter account:

Thanks everyone for all the kind words. There's no show without the fans & you're the best fans imaginable. Excited for you all to see S4!

— Beau Willimon (@BeauWillimon) January 29, 2016

Season 4 of House of Cards will be available to stream on Netflix from March 4th.
