Indiana Jones video game in development from Bethesda and Lucasfilm Games

January 13, 2021 by Ricky Church

While Indiana Jones 5 is currently slated to begin production sometime this spring after years of delays and changes including the departure of both director Steven Spielberg and screenwriter Joe Kasdan, fans will see the famed archeologist adventurer in some form as Bethesda and the newly-formed Lucasfilm Games have announced development on a Indiana Jones video game. Watch the announcement teaser below…

The Indiana Jones game will be developed by Bethesda, Lucasfilm Games and MachineGames with Bethesda’s Todd Howard serving as the executive producer. No details were provided for the game other than it will feature “a wholly original tale set at the height of the career of the famed adventurer.” Bethesda is most known for The Elder Scroll and Fallout series, which Howard has served as lead director the majority of those franchise’s instalments, as well as DOOM Eternal and Wolfenstien: Youngblood.

“Todd is a lifelong Indy fan, and has been trying for over a decade to make this game,” said Pete Hines, SVP of Global Marketing. “He’s beyond excited to work with the award-winning MachineGames team, a perfect fit for Indy.”

In an additional tweet, Bethesda said “A new Indiana Jones game with an original story is in development from our studio, @MachineGames, and will be executive produced by Todd Howard, in collaboration with @LucasfilmGames. It’ll be some time before we have more to reveal, but we’re very excited to share today’s news!”

Hopefully we will get more news on the Indiana Jones game soon and which platforms it will be available on.

In the meantime, Indiana Jones 5 will see director James Mangold helm Harrison Ford’s fifth and final outing as the archaeologist and adventurer Indiana Jones. The film is currently slated for a July 29th, 2022 release date.
