Interview with actor Niccolò Dallerba

April 10, 2023 by admin

In an exclusive interview, Flickering Myth sat down with Niccolò Dallerba to talk about acting, life in Los Angeles and his role in Avalon…

Hi Niccolò Dallerba, welcome to Flickering Myth! Was it always your dream to be an actor?

There wasn’t an exact moment that made me realize acting was my path, but I do remember that since I was a kid I always made voices or copy some of the characters in movies and I was pretty good to recognize actors from different movies even with totally different costumes or looks. I can tell you for sure that I became obsessed with movies of all genres and specific classics like Star Wars, E.T., Indiana Jones and Some Like It Hot so I was a real cinephile and still I am. Another vivid memory was watching Sergio Leone’s movies like The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. Besides that, I started taking acting workshops and classes when I was a teenager.

Congrats on your leading role in Avalon. Can you tell us about the production and the role you played?

Yes so Avalon is actually a theatre production I worked on recently at the prestigious theater The Victory Theater, in Los Angeles. I played one of the leading roles and it’s been one of the most memorable experiences of my life. The play is a great passion story of love and loss. It follows two brothers that start to run a business in 1914 Baltimore in Maryland. They are both Polish-Jewish immigrants, who arrive to America in search of the American dream for them and their families. But when various predicaments develop, the family gets together to fix the problems. I played the older brother who’s brave and honest. It was a popular production, the audience and critics really loved it so much, we were asked to do another run in the future!

What is your creative process when preparing for a movie?

My creative process when preparing for a movie is very exciting for me and I really love to explore and study the character or the story. It can be pretty hard sometimes and challenging to act in a role of a real person that maybe is still alive or had died recently because you have a moral responsibility, and you need to be as truthful as possible with your interpretation staying with the real identity of the character. One thing that is important for me is knowing the script with all the story and the background. I can say that approaching the character with costumes, ideas or easily just a walk or an attitude helps you to get into the mind and body of the character, and with no doubt I always listen to my inner voice and instinct.

Who are your filmmaker influences growing up that helped to mold you into who you are today?

I have had so many influences growing up and I think it’s a cliché, but I love Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and Sergio Leone. They were the figures that made me dream throughout my youth and still give me goosebumps. I tell you that, I always wanted to have the poster of the movie ‘Jaws’ but I am yet to find it.

Which actors/directors would you like to collaborate with in future?

There isn’t a particular actor or director out there that I dream to work with, well… maybe Clint Eastwood yes, but I enjoy working with everyone in this business, from the independent filmmakers or big Hollywood studios that give me the opportunity to step forward and share my passion for cinema and create something special.

If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?

I would say to my fans to do something that makes you happy, and do not listen to any criticism you may receive just go for it, with your whole self.

How can people find and follow your journey?

Thank you so much! Check me out on Instagram or my IMDb
