J.J. Abrams completes Star Wars: The Force Awakens, promises less lens flare

November 23, 2015 by Gary Collinson

During a ‘Celebrity Nerd-Off’ interview with Stephen Colbert at the Montclair Film Festival, director J.J. Abrams has revealed that at 2:38 AM on Saturday morning he completed the mix for Star Wars: The Force Awakens ahead of its hotly-anticipated release this December.

Meanwhile, Abrams also discussed his penchant for lens flare, and promised fans that he’s reined himself in for the first chapter of Disney’s Sequel Trilogy:

“I’ve kind of pulled back,” states Abrams. “As you’ll see in the Star Wars movie, I’ve allowed lens flares to take a very backseat. We’re making sure that it looks photorealistic and photoreal, but every time there could be a flare — because you know, I like to do that a lot — I would say ‘These are not the flares you’re looking for.'”
