James Bond franchise moving to Warner Bros. after Spectre?

June 2, 2015 by Gary Collinson

It looks like the James Bond franchise could be set for a new home after this year’s Spectre, with Variety reporting that the release of 007’s 24th (official) adventure marks the end of a deal between MGM and Sony.

According to the site, it’s thought that the close relationship between MGM boss Gary Barber and Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara could see Bond making the jump to Warner.

However, it looks like Sony won’t give up without a fight, with Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman Tom Rothman stating that: “The reality is that Sony’s had a fantastic run with the Bonds. Sure we’re going to compete for the rights, but let’s be honest, so is everybody in the business.”

Sony has certainly enjoyed success with 007, partnering up with MGM for Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace and Skyfall, the latter becoming the first Bond movie to break a billion at the global box office.
