James Cromwell’s character in Jurassic World 2 has an important connection to the original Jurassic Park

April 28, 2017 by Jordan Jones

James Cromwell’s character in the upcoming Jurassic World 2 has an interesting link to a key character from the original Jurassic Park. Sitting down with Larry King, he reveals that his character, Benjamin Lockwood, has a through-line all the way back to the 1993 original:

“The character Richard Attenborough played (John Hammond), I’m his partner, Benjamin Lockwood. We developed the technology of being able to clone the genes. And so I’m trying to deal with the blowback from what we have done.”

The sequel to 2015’s Jurassic World is getting very interesting. Recently, we found out that the legendary Jeff Goldblum is returning as the iconic Dr. Ian Malcolm, and now we are starting to see even more connections to the original. It seems that Jurassic World 2 is closely tied to the original Jurassic Park: Chris Pratt has even revealed that the sequel will be darker, and scarier. Fingers crossed for this one.

The as-yet-untitled Jurassic World sequel is set for release on June 22nd, 2018 and sees J.A. Bayona directing a cast that includes franchise veterans Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, BD Wong and Jeff Goldblum alongside Toby Jones (Captain America: The First Avenger), Rafe Spall (Black Mirror), Justice Smith (The Get Down), Ted Levine (Silence of the Lambs), James Cromwell (The Young Pope), Daniella Pineda (The Detour) and Geraldine Chaplin (A Monster Calls).
