James Gunn reportedly passed on a Superman movie

February 3, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Earlier in the week it was confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn is set to take the reins on Warner Bros. and DC Films’ The Suicide Squad, but it seems that wasn’t the first DC project offered to the filmmaker.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, when WB was first courting Gunn following his firing from Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, he was given his pick of projects, including a Superman movie.

The article goes on to state that Gunn never seriously considered the offer, although when he was doing his research into the comic books “he did take a shine to the Man of Steel’s superpowered dog Krypto”.

So, does that mean Krypto the Superdog could factor into The Suicide Squad somehow? After all, Gunn did manage to squeeze a couple of Cosmo cameos into both of his Guardians of the Galaxy movies…
