James Marsden joins Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

June 9, 2018 by Gary Collinson

We’ve had a lot of casting news for Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood this week, but it’s not over yet as Variety is reporting that James Marsden (Westworld) and child actress Julia Butters (American Housewife) have now joined the film in unspecified roles.

Marsden and Butters join a host of recent new additions, including Al Pacino (The Godfather), Damien Lewis (Billions), Dakota Fanning (Ocean’s 8), Luke Perry (Riverdale), Emile Hirsch (The Autopsy of Jane Doe), Clifton Collins Jr. (Westworld), Keith Jefferson (The Hateful Eight) and Nicholas Hammond (The Sound of Music). They join the previously announced Leonardo DiCaprio (Django Unchained), Brad Pitt (Inglourious Basterds), Margot Robbie (I, Tonya), Burt Reynolds (Boogie Nights), Timothy Olyphant (Santa Clarita Diet) and Tarantino regulars Tim Roth and Michael Madsen.

The official synopsis for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood reads:

A story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood. The two lead characters are Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), former star of a western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbour… Sharon Tate.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is set for release on August 9th, 2019, the 50th anniversary of the murder of Sharon Tate.
