Jamie Bell in talks to join Taron Egerton in Elton John film Rocketman

June 23, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Variety is reporting that Jamie Bell (Jumper, Fantastic Four) is in talks to play famed songwriter and long time Elton John collaborator Bernie Taupin in the upcoming biopic Rocketman opposite Taron Egerton’s John.

The film is being directed by Dexter Fletcher (Eddie the Eagle), with Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman: The Secret Service) producing through his Marv Films, alongside Elton John and David Furnish of Rocket Pictures.

Taupin first began his collaborations with Elton John back in 1967, with the duo then going on to work on 30 albums together, producing hits such as ‘Rocket Man’, ‘Candle in the Wind’, ‘Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting’ and ‘Tiny Dancer’.

Filming on Rocketman is slated to get underway in August.
