Jamie Foxx joining Michael B. Jordan in Just Mercy

July 16, 2018 by Amie Cranswick

According to Variety, Jamie Foxx is in talks to join Michael B. Jordan in the cast of the courtroom drama Just Mercy, which is being directed by Destin Cretton (Short Term 12).

Based on the book Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption, the film tells the story of Bryan Stevenson (Jordan), a gifted young lawyer defending Walter McMillian, a death row inmate (Foxx) who insists he is innocent of the brutal murder he is accused of committing.

It’s said that Foxx’s role has been highly coveted by numerous actors, and the Oscar-winner is hoping that it could push him back into awards contention once again.

Foxx will next be seen as Little John alongside Taron Egerton in Robin Hood, and has also recently signed on for the title role in Todd McFarlane’s Spawn reboot.
