Jason Momoa is Apple TV+’s Chief of War

April 10, 2022 by Gary Collinson

In addition to an upcoming third season of the post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama See, Aquaman star Jason Momoa is set to reunite with Apple TV+ for the limited series Chief of War, which has been given a straight-to-series order from the streamer.

Created by Momoa and Thomas Pa’a Sibbett, with Momoa writing, executive producing and starring, the eight-episode series will follow “the epic and unprecedented telling of the unification and colonization of Hawaii from an indigenous point of view.”

Chief of War marks the first time that Momoa has written for television, and he and Sibbett will executive produce alongside Francis Lawrence, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Erik Holmberg and showrunner Doug Jung.

Momoa wrapped filming on the third season of See back in November, although Apple is yet to announce a premiere date at the time of writing. He’ll next be seen on the big screen in Francis Lawrence’s Slumberland, and has DC Films’ Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom incoming in 2023, as well as a villain role in Fast & Furious 10.
