Jeffrey Dean Morgan cast as Negan in The Walking Dead

November 10, 2015 by Villordsutch

Fans of The Walking Dead will either now be going punching the air with a hiss filled “Yes!” or they’ll be looking rather glum whilst whispering “No!” as the news has just broke that the role of one of The Walking Dead’s most nastiest piece’s of work has now been cast: gripping the barb wire wrapped baseball bat is none other than Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

You will no doubt know the name Jeffrey Dean Morgan from The Watchmen movie – directed by Zack Snyder – where he played the role of the “superhero” (used extremely loosely) known as The Comedian; others may recognise him from his recurring roles in both Supernatural and Grey’s Anatomy.

For those of you not aware of the character of Negan, this brute of a foul-mouthed leader has his own group of survivors that follow his every word out of fear.  Negan’s weapon of choice is a baseball bat, wrapped in barbed-wire that goes by the name Lucille.  To quickly get an image on Robert Kirkman’s  Negan, look up punk rock legend Henry Rollins for this is what he based Negan’s classic look upon. Also the reason why us comic book readers know Glenn isn’t dead yet is because Negan hasn’t arrived and because *SPOILERS* Negan kills him *END SPOILERS*.

Quoted over at The Hollywood Reporter showrunner Scott M. Gimple said about introducing Negan to The Walking Dead, “There’s a particular story in that arc that I’m very excited for. But because we know where we’re going, we have some opportunities to play around with it and put some things in that will lead up to [Negan and Alexandria] in different ways yet fulfill the story Robert told to the Nth degree by utilizing some slightly different approaches. Lineups and timelines and the whole nine yards.”

Are you looking forward to seeing Negan enter The Walking Dead?  Do you think that Jeffrey Dean Morgan is the right choice for such a vicious character in this universe?  Let us know what you think….
