Jennifer Love Hewitt sets I Know What You Did Last Summer return

December 14, 2024 by Gary Collinson

When it was first announced a couple of years back a new instalment of the slasher series I Know What You Did Last Summer was in the works, reports suggested that both Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. would be making their return to the franchise for a Scream-style legacy sequel that would see their OG characters sharing the screen with a new young cast of potential victims for the hook-wielding Fisherman.

Freddie Prinze Jr. was confirmed to return as Ray Bronson a few months back, but when production kicked off on the new film last week, it did so surprisingly without its Final Girl on board. However, fans can breathe easy now as the franchise’s social accounts has officially announced that Jennifer Love Hewitt will indeed be back for a third outing as Julie James.

The as-yet-untitled new instalment is being directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge) and sees Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. joined in the cast by new additions Billy Campbell, Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, Jonah Haur-King, Lola Tung, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Austin Nichols, and Gabbriette.

The new I Know What You Did Last Summer is set for release on July 18th 2025.
