Jesse L. Martin returning to The Flash after medical leave of absence

January 14, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Back in November it was announced that Detective Joe West actor Jesse L. Martin was taking a leave of absence from The Flash due to medical reasons, and now comes word that he’s returning to The CW’s DC superhero show.

Martin had injured his back during the break between the fourth and fifth season, which resulted in him shooting most of his scenes during the first four episodes of the latest season with his character sitting down.

However, TV Line reports that Martin is now back on set and has resumed filming, with Joe set to make his return to the show in episode fifteen.

The Flash is currently on its winter break, but returns this coming Tuesday, January 15th with its midseason premiere ‘The Flash and the Furious’. Watch the trailer for the episode here.
