As revealed by Deadline, actress Jessica Meraz (Major Crimes) has signed on for a major recurring role in The CW’s Supergirl, where she will play the DC villain Pamela Ferrer, a.k.a. Menagerie.
Supergirl’s version of the character is described as “a jewel thief who doesn’t mind hurting people” and will be a member of Manchester Black’s (David Ajala) group, The Elite.
Created by Koe Kelly and Doug Mahnke, the first incarnation of Menagerie – Pamela – made her debut in Action Comics #775 in 2001, and possesses the ability to control alien “symbeasts”. In the comics, Pamela was ultimately poisoned by Manchester Black after betraying him to Superman, with her younger sister Sonja then taking on the Menagerie mantle.
