Deadline is reporting that Gossip Girl and Shameless star Jessica Szohr has become the first new addition to the cast of Seth MacFarlane’s The Orville, with the actress signing on as a series regular for the show’s second season.
Szohr’s role is being kept under wraps, but she will portray a new crew member on board the ship.
Created by Seth MacFarlane, The Orville features a cast that includes MacFarlane, Adrianne Palicki, Penny Johnson Jerald, Scott Grimes, Peter Macon, Halston Sage, J. Lee and Mark Jackson.
Although reviews were mixed, the show proved to be a big success for FOX in terms of its audience, giving the network its most-viewed drama debut since Empire in 2015 and leading to an early renewal in November. The second season is expected to get underway later in the year.
