Jimmy Smits reprising the role of Bail Organa for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

August 6, 2016 by Gary Collinson

We saw from the first trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story that Genevieve O’Reilly will be reprising her role as Mon Mothma from Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith in December’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and now we can officially add another returning cast member from the Prequel Trilogy.

Jimmy Smits, who played Princess Leia’s adoptive father Bail Organa in both Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, has confirmed to CBS’ The Talk that he will be back for Rogue One, stating: “Can you say the word ‘cameo’? Can you say the words ‘small part’?”

There had been speculation surrounding Smits’ possible return following the release of the sizzle reel during last month’s Star Wars Celebration, where he was seemingly spotted by eagle-eyed fans:

ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY, is the first film in the new standalone movies from Lucasfilm. It tells the story of how a group of unlikely heroes unite to undertake a daring and seemingly impossible mission to steal the plans for the Death Star.
