Joe Carnahan to write Uncharted movie for Sony

July 30, 2016 by Thomas Roach

Sony is moving forward with its big screen adaptation of the video game Uncharted., with the film – which has been in development for several years now  – acquiring a new writer in Joe Carnahan, Variety has reported.

Carnahan, who is next set to direct Bad Boys 3, has expressed an interest in helming the Uncharted movie though due to scheduling on his next directing gig he will only be penning the screenplay: “In a perfect world I would love to do both, but right now, I’m only on board to write the script.”

Carnahan also revealed what attracted him to the project, stating that: “Archaeology today is in itself an antiquity, but that world has always fascinated me. Especially when you go to a museum today and wonder how a piece got there to begin with. Plus, the property itself is so popular that it was hard to turn down an opportunity to work on it.”

As of yet, there’s no word on any release date or casting for Uncharted, but we’ll keep you posted.
