Joel McHale to play Chevy Chase in Netflix’s National Lampoon movie

April 6, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Yesterday we brought you word that Domhnall Gleeson (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) has been cast as National Lampoon co-founder Henry Beard in Netflix’s A Futile and Stupid Gesture, and now THR is reporting that Joel McHale is in final talks to portray his Community co-star Chevy Chase.

A Futile and Stupid Gesture will tell the tragic story of National Lampoon co-founder Douglas Kenney (Will Forte), who produced and co-wrote Chaddyshack, an early hit for his close friend Chase, before his death under mysterious circumstances in 1980.

Production on A Futile and Stupid Gesture is set to get underway this month, with David Wain (Wet Hot American Summer) directing.
