Having been absent from the sequel’s official announcement last month, it has now been confirmed that John Hannah will be returning alongside Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz for Universal’s horror-adventure sequel The Mummy 4.
The new film is being directed by Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Scream, Ready Or Not) and will reunite the trio of adventurers from the 1999 original, with Fraser back as Rick O’Connell and Weisz and Hannah returning as siblings Evelyn and Jonathan Carnahan. David Coggeshall (The Family Plan) has penned the script, although plot details are being kept under wraps at present.

The as-yet-untitled sequel will mark the fourth outing in the series for both Fraser and Hannah, although Rachel Weisz sat out the previous instalment, 2008’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, where Evelyn was portrayed by Mario Bello.
Production on the film will get underway in the fall ahead of a May 19th 2028 release.
