John Krasinski was brought to tears by wife Emily Blunt in Mary Poppins Returns

November 30, 2018 by Samuel Brace

John Krasinski has reveaeld that the performance of his wife Emily Blunt in Mary Poppins Returns, made him cry during the screening.

Husband and wife team John Krasinski and Emily Blunt were really brought to the Hollywood forefront with horror hit A Quiet Place but Blunt’s next performance, in the upcoming Mary Poppins Returns, apparently brought her husband to tears.

Speaking on Ellen (via ComicBook.com), John Krasinski said it was a very emotional experience seeing the film for the first time: “The first time I ever saw it, they give you a tissue box in the screening room and I was like, ‘oh that’s very nice, I don’t have a cold.'”

But after twenty five minutes, Krasinski reveals that he “stood up and went to the back of the room.”

Blunt, concerned by this, asked her husband: “Do you not like it? I’ve never seen this happen.”

Well, the reason why Krasinski was out of his chair was because he was looking for more tissues! “I need anything to stop this crying!” the actor explained. After joking that Blunt’s performance wasn’t one of her best, Krasinski admitted: “It’s honestly one of the most beautiful films, exactly what everybody needs at the holidays. Pure joy.”

Are you looking forward to seeing Mary Poppins Returns? Perhaps stash a few tissues in your pocked if you plan on seeing it this December.

Mary Poppins Returns is set in 1930s depression-era London (the time period of the original novels) and is drawn from the wealth of material in PL Travers’ additional seven books. In the story, Michael (Ben Whishaw) and Jane (Emily Mortimer) are now grown up, with Michael, his three children and their housekeeper, Ellen (Julie Walters), living on Cherry Tree Lane. After Michael suffers a personal loss, the enigmatic nanny Mary Poppins (Emily Blunt) re-enters the lives of the Banks family, and, along with the optimistic street lamplighter Jack (Lin-Manuel Miranda), uses her unique magical skills to help the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives. Mary Poppins also introduces the children to a new assortment of colorful and whimsical characters, including her eccentric cousin, Topsy (Meryl Streep).

Mary Poppins Returns is being directed by Rob Marshall (Into the Woods) and sees Emily Blunt (The Girl on the Train) leading the cast alongside Lin-Manuel Miranda (Moana), Ben Whishaw (Spectre), Emily Mortimer (Hugo), Julie Walters (Harry Potter), Colin Firth (The King’s Speech), Meryl Streep (Florence Foster Jenkins), Pixie Davies (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children), Nathanael Saleh (Game of Thrones), Angela Lansbury (Murder, She Wrote), and newcomer Joel Dawson, with Dick Van Dyke set to make a cameo appearance. It will open on December 21st 2018 in the UK and December 25th 2018 in North America.
