John Landis advised Max Landis not to remake An American Werewolf in London

September 17, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Filmmaker John Landis has been quite outspoken as of late, criticising Marvel Studios, Universal’s Dark Universe, and Lucasfilm’s stifling on creative talent on the Star Wars saga.

And now he’s turned his attention a little closer to home, revealing to Collider that he tried to dissuade his son Max Landis from remaking his 1981 cult classic An American Werewolf in London.

“I advised him not to do it,” said Landis. “I think he’s putting himself in a bad position. My son is brilliant, he really is, and he wants to do it. So what am I going to say? No? I know it won’t be as bad as An American Werewolf In Paris, which was shit. So, I don’t know.”

Max Landis was first announced as attached to the remake back in November of last year, although he suggested in July that he’s unsure if the project will come together.
