If you remember the last time Julia Ducournau dropped a new film, you know we are in for something special with Alpha.
The filmmaker behind Raw and Titane, the latter of which won the Palme d’Or at Cannes, has returned, and this new visceral cinematic experience is becoming a must-see.
Alpha just had its world premiere at the main competition of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival and will be theatrically released in France by Diaphana Distribution on 20 August 2025. Distributors FilmNation and Charades have described the film as Ducournau’s “most personal, profound work.”
Neon just unleashed the world’s first real look at what is likely to be one of the year’s most shocking films. The distributor bought the North American distribution rights at the Marché du Film of the 77th Cannes Film Festival after distributing Ducournau’s previous film, Titane. With the success of her last outing with Neon, could we see another global smash?
