Julia Garner’s Rosemary’s Baby prequel Apartment 7A heading to Paramount+ this Halloween

April 27, 2024 by Matt Rodgers

Catching everyone by surprise when it was announced as a covert prequel to Rosemary’s Baby, we finally have a release date for the Julia Garner-headlined Apartment 7A.

According to Variety the Natalie Erika James directed horror will debut exclusively on Paramount+ ahead of Halloween.

Apartment 7A is a prequel to Roman Polanski’s 1968 horror classic, and will star the Emmy Award winning Garner (Ozark) as a struggling young dancer who suffers a devastating career-ending injury, who finds herself drawn in by dark forces when a peculiar, well-connected, older couple promises her a shot at fame. Starring alongside Garner will be Dianne Wiest, Jim Sturgess, Kevin McNally, Marli Siu and Andrew Buchan.

Based on Ira Levin’s 1967 novel of the same name, Rosemary’s Baby starred Mia Farrow as a young wife living in a lonely Manhattan apartment block who comes to suspect that her elderly neighbours are members of a Satanic cult intending to use her unborn child for their rituals.

Aside from the obvious draw of the soon-to-be Silver Surfer in the lead role, Apartment 7A should be worth paying a visit to because it heralds the return of Natalie Erika James to the horror genre following 2020’s terrifying and tender Relic. James co-wrote the script with Christian White and Skylar James.
