Julia Roberts to play Jacob Tremblay’s mother in Wonder

Julia Roberts (Money Monster) is set to star in Wonder, the film adaptation of the acclaimed novel by author R.J. Palacio, The Hollywood Reporter. has revealed.

Room actor Jacob Tremblay is starring in the film as Auggie Pullman, “a young boy who was born with a facial deformity. For the first time, Auggie is going to a mainstream school, starting the fifth grade at Beecher Prep.” Roberts is to play Pullman’s mother.

Stephen Chbosky (The Perks of Being a Wallflower) is directing the film for Lionsgate, with Steve Conrad (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty) writing the screenplay.

Palacio’s book was released in 2012 and has sold over 2 million copies, becoming a New York Times best-seller.

Roberts returns to the screen this month with Jodie Foster’s Money Monster, where she stars with Ocean’s 11 co-star George Cloone; it is set for release on May 13th in the US and May 27th in the UK.
