Keanu Reeves describes The Matrix 4 as “a love story” and “inspiring”

September 18, 2020 by Liam Waddington

After almost 20 years away from the big screen, a fourth instalment in The Matrix franchise is currently in production with one of the directors of the original trilogy, Lana Wachowski, who is also co-writing the project, and despite the events The Matrix Revolutions, Keanu Reeves is set to return as Neo even though he sacrificed himself to save humanity in the ongoing war against the machines.

Now, in an appearance on BBC’s The One Show, Reeves discussed the upcoming sequel whilst describing the plot of The Matrix 4 as “a love story” and “inspiring.”

“We have a wonderful writer and director, Lana Wachowski, and she’s really written a beautiful, beautiful script that is a love story, it’s inspiring, it’s another version of a kind of call to wake up, and entertains, great action. And all will be revealed,” Reeves said.

When asked if this film would be a prequel or would go back in time, Reeves responded with a firm “no.”

Unfortunately, the plot for The Matrix 4 is currently being kept under wraps at Warner Bros. but we do know John Wick filmmakers Chad Stahelski and David Leitch – who served as stunt performers and coordinators on 1999’s The Matrix and its sequels The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions – are returning to help out on certain action sequences.
