Kermit and Missy Piggy announce their split

August 4, 2015 by Gary Collinson

We don’t really cover celebrities’ private lives, gossip and other such nonsense here at Flickering Myth, but when the news is this earth-shattering…

Having been an item for the best part of forty years, Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy have announced their split, just weeks before the (former) couple return to the small screen for a brand new rebooted series of The Muppets.

“After careful thought, thoughtful consideration and considerable squabbling, we have made the difficult decision to terminate our romantic relationship,” said the pair on their official Facebook page. “We will continue to work together on television (“The Muppets”/Tuesdays 8pm this fall on ABC) and in all media now known or hereafter devised, in perpetuity, throughout the universe. However, our personal lives are now distinct and separate, and we will be seeing other people, pigs, frogs, et al. This is our only comment on this private matter. Thank you for your understanding.”

The Muppets will premiere on September 22, 2015.
