Kevin Toms rewriting 1980s Football Manager game

October 9, 2015 by Villordsutch

For those of you around you who lived through the 1980s and liked your football there was a very high possibility that you’d have had on you ZX Spectrum, C64, BBC Micro etc. Football Manager by Kevin Toms.  This game was massively popular and was the game for all football obsessed fans no matter what age or gender; it would have been permanently glued into your tape deck.  Well now Kevin Toms is attempting to bring back this classic to modern machines  – and he needs your help to do it.

Launching on Kickstarter, Kevin has set himself the goal of bringing Football <anager initially to iOS and Android devices, with the future plans to bring the game to other platforms.  Kevin’s hoping to bring the granddaddy of all Football Managers back to the modern world, but retain to its charm so it will still be recognisable to the original fans of the series.

There are a number of rewards offered towards the goal of $28,099 (NZD) which include:-

  • Football Manager 80s Digital Scrapbook. My personal collection of memento photos and documents from the 1980s Football Manager heyday. (Sent as digital document)
  • 99 to Continue Signed T-shirt (limited edition).
Unique T-shirt design with the iconic words from the original game “99 to continue”.
This limited edition of the T Shirt will be personally signed by Kevin Toms
  • Be one of the Managers in every game. Each copy will have 63 opposing managers. You will have your name (polite only 🙂 coded into the game as one of the opposing managers
  • Kevin Toms Signed print of the original commissioned Football Manager inlay background painting, originally painted in 1982

If you’d like to be involved in getting Football Manager by Kevin Toms back into the gaming charts then you can find his Kickstarter page here, or you can visit his website.

Villordsutch likes his sci-fi and looks like a tubby Viking according to his children. Visit his website and follow him on Twitter.
