Leaked Star Wars: The Force Awakens image features a young Luke Skywalker

November 27, 2018 by Amie Cranswick

In the run up to the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it was reported on several occasions that we’d get a flashback sequence showing Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker’s Cloud City duel from The Empire Strikes Back – a scene that would have taken place during Rey’s ‘Forceback’ vision.

Rumours had circulated that Lucasfilm and J.J. Abrams had gone as far as shooting a recreation of the Empire scene using English actor Robert Boulter as a stand in for the young Luke Skywalker. And it seems this may well have been the case, as a photo has now surfaced online showing a beaten up Boulter in Bespin fatigues. Check it out here…

Back in the day I reported that Robert Boulter was playing young Luke in a Star Wars: The Force Awakens flashback. This picture is going around today. https://t.co/VdFwJO9RD2 pic.twitter.com/QOy2zu1syK

Now, it’s possible that the above photo was simply a make-up/costume test and Boulter never actually got in front of the camera as Luke Skywalker, but if he did then hopefully we’ll get to see the footage at some point – perhaps with the Sequel Trilogy box set post-Episode IX, or one of the many re-releases we can expect over the next few decades…
