Legendary Pictures adapting action-horror comic Bitter Root

April 8, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Legendary Pictures has acquired the feature film rights to David F. Walker, Sanford Greene and Chuck Brown’s hit Image Comics title Bitter Root.

Launching last year, Bitter Root takes place in Harlem in 1924 during the height of the Jazz Age and follows “an African-American family of once-great monster hunters is the only line of defense that can protect New York City from an unimaginable evil that is approaching — an invasion by hideous monsters that were once human beings before they were transmogrified by a supernatural force feeding off of prejudice, spite, and bigotry.”

Walker, Sanford and Brown are attached to executive produce the movie adaptation along with Jon Silk and Disney Hall of Legendary Pictures and Sean Owolo of Big Machine.
