Liam Neeson Speed-like thriller Retribution adds Matthew Modine, Embeth Davidtz and Arian Moayed

June 16, 2021 by Ricky Church

Deadline reports Studiocanal and The Picture Company’s upcoming Liam Neeson action thriller Retribution has added Matthew Modine (Stranger Things), Embeth Davidtz (Ray Donovan) and Arian Moayed (Succession) to the film.

Retribution is a remake of the 2015 Spanish thriller El Desconocido and sees Neeson in a Speed-like situation as “a banking executive whose life is thrown upside down when a bomb is placed inside his car with him and his family, and the banker’s children are forced to go through the harrowing events with him.”

Also starring in the film is Noma Dumezweni (Made for Love), Jack Champion (Avatar 2) and Lilly Aspell (Wonder Woman 1984) with the later two playing Neeson’s children.

Retribution will be directed by Nimrod Antal (Predators). Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman of The Picture Company are producing the film alongside Jaume Collet-Serra, who has previously directed Neeson in the action thrillers Unknown, Non-Stop, Run All Night and The Commuter.
