Louis Leterrier in talks to direct Fast X, Vin Diesel reportedly causing on set issues

May 2, 2022 by EJ Moreno

What will the final instalments of the Fast and the Furious look like with a brand new director at the steering wheel? With Justin Lin’s shock exit, fans will soon find out and just days after Lin stepped away from the tenth instalment it is now being reported that Universal Pictures is looking to in Louis Leterrier to take over directing duties on Fast X.

Leterrier has quite an impressive resume. His work includes the first two Transporter films, 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, Now You See Me, and Netflix’s The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. Sources state that while he is the studio’s first choice, there seems to be an issue with scheduling and Leterrier is looking to work this out with his other projects. At the time of writing, a deal has not closed yet.

In related news, rumours are also emerging that Vin Diesel caused the split between Justin Lin and Fast X, with NY Daily News reporting that “Diesel shows up late to the set. He doesn’t know his lines. And he shows up out of shape.” One producer claimed the issues between Lin and Diesel were so bad that Lin willingly gave up $10 to $20 million by walking away.

What do you make of Louis Leterrier as Lin’s replacement on Fast X? Let us know on our social channels @FlickeringMyth…

Fast X features a cast that includes Vin Diesel, Sung Kang, Nathalie Emmanuel, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Charlize Theron, and franchise newcomers Jason Momoa and Brie Larson.

Fast X is currently set for release on May 19th, 2023.
