Lynda Carter won’t cameo in Wonder Woman, but is open to appearing in a sequel

October 14, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Lynda Carter may have returned to the DC universe with a guest role as the President of the United States in The CW’s Supergirl, but the former Amazon Princess won’t be appearing in next year’s Wonder Woman movie, with the actress revealing that while she discussed the possibility with director Patty Jenkins, scheduling conflicts prevented it from happening.

“I’ve spoken to [director] Patty Jenkins,” Carter told Variety. “She talked to me on the phone about the character, and we were trying to see if I could do something with the movie, but it didn’t work out. The timing was off, and I was doing other things and couldn’t get over to where they were shooting.”

Carter went on to reveal that she would be open to appearing in the sequel, adding that: “I might [do it], but at this point in my life, I pretty much do new parts in things. There’s someone else doing the role now, and that’s OK. They should do it. I support Gal Gadot wholeheartedly, and I wish her and Patty all the success in the world.”

Recent rumours have suggested that Carter may be set for a return as Wonder Woman in animated form, with Warner Bros. reportedly considering a Wonder Woman ’77 feature.

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

Wonder Woman will hit cinemas on June 2nd, 2017 with a cast that includes Gal Gadot (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Chris Pine (Star Trek), Connie Nielsen (Gladiator), Robin Wright (House of Cards), Danny Huston (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), David Thewlis (The Theory of Everything), Ewen Bremner (Snowpiercer), Said Taghmaoui (American Hustle), Elena Anaya (The Skin I Live In), Lisa Loven Kongsli (Force Majeure) and Lucy Davis (Shaun of the Dead).
