M3GAN spin-off SOULM8TE to unleash an erotic android in 2026

June 21, 2024 by Matt Rodgers

Universal are expanding their range of killer robots with the news that M3GAN spin-off SOULM8TE is set to deliver a new technological twist in 2026.

The newly merged Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are piecing together a brand new android to scare audiences on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.

SOULM8TE will be directed by Kate Dolan (You Are Not My Mother), and tell the story of a who man acquires an Artificially Intelligent android to cope with the loss of his recently deceased wife. In an attempt to create a truly sentient partner, he inadvertently turns a harmless lovebot into a deadly soulmate.

Pitched as a 1990s erotic thriller, SOULM8TE has been written by Dolan from an original script by Rafael Jordan (A Mermaid’s Tale), and is based on a story thought up by Atomic Monster head-honcho James Wan (The Conjuring), Ingrid Bisu (Malignant) and Jordan.

M3GAN was another Blumhouse success story, making $180 million at the global box-office in 2022, and already has a sequel – M3GAN 2.0 – set for release on June 27, 2025.
