Maisie Richardson-Sellers to play Vixen in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow

June 24, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Last month it was announced that Vixen would be joining DC’s Legends of Tomorrow for its second season, although it wouldn’t be Megalyn Echikunwoke’s Mari McCabe, but rather an alternative version of the character.

Well, The CW and Warner Bros. TV have now announced that Maisie Richardson-Sellers (The Originals, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) has secured the role of Amaya Jiwe, the grandmother of Mari McCabe.

“Amaya Jiwe – better known as Vixen – is the newest superhero to board the Waverider and join the ranks of the Legends of Tomorrow,” reads the official announcement. “Like her granddaughter, Mari McCabe, Amaya’s powers are derived from the mysterious Tantu Totem, which allows her to magically access the abilities of animals.”

Season two of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will get underway on October 13th, while Megalyn Echikunwoke will also return to voice the character this summer for a second season of the Vixen animated series.
