Mark Hamill regrets his criticisms of Star Wars: The Last Jedi

December 27, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Mark Hamill has revealed that he regrets criticising Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

No Star Wars film has divided fans quite like The Last Jedi, with the movie being a departure both stylistically and in terms of narrative from what fans have come to expect from the franchise.

Mark Hamill, the man behind Luke Skywalker, clashed at points with Johnson on the direction of his character, saying “He’s not my Luke Skywalker”. But now Hamill has taken to twitter, retweeting a post from Star Wars Youtuber The Stupendous Wave, saying he regrets his criticisms:

“I regret voicing my doubts & insecurities in public. Creative differences are a common element of any project but usually remain private. All I wanted was to make good movie. I got more than that- @rianjohnson made an all-time GREAT one!”

The post that Hamill retweeted was an interview where the actor has said that he was wrong about Johnson’s direction for Luke and that he was now happy with how the film presented the iconic character.
