Marvel Studios reportedly set to meet with Sony again about Spider-Man

December 14, 2014 by Thomas Roach

There has been a great deal of drama from the Sony hack this week and one of the most intriguing things was the news that Sony and Marvel Studios had discussions about Spider-Man appearing in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. Sadly negotiations did not work out and the movie rights to Spider-Man remain solely with Sony. However, there is now talk that another discussion between the two studios is set to take place in order to try and come to a deal.

ScreenGonzo reportedly have sources who have revealed that Kevin Feige from Marvel Studios and Amy Pascal from Sony are set to meet at Pinewood Studios in January to resume negotiations to get Spider-Man to appear in Captain America: Civil War. The source claims that should a deal be reached a post-credits stinger for Spider-Man could appear at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, and that Civil War directors Anthony and Joe Russo would then take the reins of a new Spider-Man trilogy after they finish directing Avengers: Infinity War.

Frankly none of this is confirmed and the report could be a complete fabrication / guesswork. However with Sony’s seemingly at a loss with its plans for Spider-Man at present, it wouldn’t be surprising if Marvel Studios made another attempting at bringing the wall-crawler into the MCU.
