Marvel’s Eternals boasts an epic running time

September 29, 2021 by Gary Collinson

With the film spanning millennia and introducing an entirely new cast of characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it will come as little surprise that Marvel Studios’ Eternals isn’t going down the Venom: Let There Be Carnage route with a swift a 90-minute running time.

In fact, if a listing from Russian film distribution site Kino Metro is to be believed, the film clocks in at an epic 156 minutes, which puts it ahead of Avengers: Infinity War (149 minutes) and second only to Avengers: Endgame in terms of the MCU’s longest releases.

This report follows the recent news that Eternals has been slapped with the equivalent of an R-rating in Russia, likely due to the inclusion of a gay character in Brian Tyree Henry’s Phastos (2017’s Power Rangers similarly found itself hit with an 18+ rating as a result of the country’s controversial “gay propaganda” law which prohibits the “promotion of nontraditional sexual relations to minors”).

Marvel Studios’ Eternals features an exciting new team of Super-Heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s most ancient enemy, The Deviants.

Eternals is directed by Chloe Zhao (The Rider) and features a cast that includes Angelina Jolie (Maleficent) as Thena, Richard Madden (Bodyguard) as Ikaris, Don Lee (Train to Busan) as Gilgamesh, Salma Hayek (The Hitman’s Bodyguard) as Ajak, Lauren Ridloff (The Walking Dead) as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry (Child’s Play) as Phastos, Lia McHugh (American Woman) as Sprite, Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick) as Kingo, Kit Harington (Game of Thrones) as Dane Whitman, Gemma Chan (Captain Marvel) as Sersi and Barry Keoghan (Dunkirk) as Druig.
