Apple Original Films are getting a taste for the big-budget ensemble pieces, because having snapped up Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon for a reported $180M, they’ve now dipped into their bottomless pockets to secure Matthew Vaughn’s franchise launching spy-thriller Argylle for a cool $200M.
According to Deadline, Apple is near completion on securing the worldwide rights for the film, which stars Henry Cavill, Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, John Cena, Samuel L. Jackson, and Dua Lipa, who will also provide Argylle’s title track and score.
The film, based on the soon to be launched novel Argylle, written by author Ellie Conway, follows the world’s greatest spy” ‘Argylle’ as he is caught up in a globe-trotting adventure. It is the first part of an intended trilogy that will take the franchise from America, London, and various locations around the world.
