Maura Tierney and Annalise Basso join Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams, Bryan Cranston’s role revealed

June 6, 2017 by Ricky Church

Casting has been completed for the final two episodes of Amazon’s Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams, the upcoming sci-fi anthology series based on several of Dick’s short stories. Among the final casting is The Affair‘s Maura Tierney, Ouija: Origin of Evil‘s Annalise Basso and series executive producer and Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston.

Tierney and Basso will appear in the episode ‘Safe and Sound’. The episode is written by Kalen Egan & Travis Sentell and directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World). The episode will follow Basso’s character, a small-town girl who moves to a big, futuristic city with her mother and is exposed to the city’s measures on security and crime prevention. She becomes obsessed with this and her paranoia takes control, but she manages to find safety in an unlikely place.

Cranston will appear in the final episode of the series, ‘Human Is’. Joining him will be The White Princess‘ Essie Davis, Game of Thrones‘ Liam Cunningham and Human‘s Ruth Bradley. ‘Human is’ was written by Jessica Mecklenburg and helmed by Francesca Gregorin. ‘Human Is’ sees Davis stuck in a loveless marriage to Cranston, her emotionally abusive husband recently returned home from war. Upon his return, she notices he is a changed man in many different ways. Cunningham will play General Olin and Bradley a young woman named Yaro.

Electric Dreams is being produced by Ronald D. Moore, Michael Dinner, Bryan Cranston and Sony Pictures TV. Also set to appear in the anthology are Juno Temple, Janelle Monae, Steve Buscemi, Greg Kinnear, Mireille Enos, Anna Paquin, Terrence Howard, Timothy Spall, Richard Madden, Holiday Grainger, Jack Reynor, Benedict Wong and Geraldine Chaplin.

The series will air on Amazon Prime in the U.S and Channel 4 in the U.K later this year.
