Melissa McCarthy and Tiffany Haddish set for DC/Vertigo adaptation The Kitchen

February 13, 2018 by Gary Collinson

New Line Cinema and DC Entertainment have set Melissa McCarthy (Ghostbusters) and Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip) to star in The Kitchen, an adaptation of the Vertigo comic book series of the same name.

The film will mark the directorial debut of Andrea Berloff, screenwriter on Straight Outta Compton, and is an Irish mafia story which takes place in 1970s New York. The plot revolves around three mob wives who take over their husbands’ criminal enterprise when the men are busted by the FBI.

The Kitchen was created by Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle for the DC imprint Vertigo, with the first issue released back in 2014.

McCarthy will next be seen this May in the comedy Life of the Party [watch the trailer here], while Haddish’s upcoming credits include Night School, The Oath, and the TV series The Last O.G..
