Michael Keaton and Seth Rogen join John McAfee film King of the Jungle

October 28, 2018 by Gary Collinson

After losing their original star Johnny Depp, directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (I Love You Phillip Morris) have enlisted Michael Keaton (Spider-Man: Homecoming) to play rogue tech magnate John McAfee in the dark comedy King of the Jungle, with Seth Rogen (The Disaster Artist) also on board to play Wired magazine reporter Ari Furman.

The film, based upon the Wired article ‘John McAfee’s Last Stand‘ and scripted by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (American Crime Story), will see Rogen’s reporter accepting what he thinks is a run-of-the-mill assignment to interview McAfee, creator of the McAfee Antivirus software, at his remote home in Belize, only to discover that McAfee has set-up a “Colonel Kurtz-like compound of guns, sex and madness.”

Keaton will soon be seen in Disney’s Dumbo, which reunites him with his Beetlejuice, Batman and Batman Returns director Tim Burton, and also reprises the role of The Vulture for next year’s Marvel sequel Spider-Man: Far From Home. Rogen meanwhile has the comedy Flarsky set for release next year, and also voices Pumbaa is Jon Favreau’s The Lion King remake.
