Michael Keaton’s Batman returns in Batgirl set photos and video

February 13, 2022 by Amie Cranswick

We’ve got a tease for his return in the DC FanDome teaser trailer for The Flash last year, and now it seems we’ve got our very first look at Michael Keaton suited up once again as Batman thanks to the latest spy photos and video from the set of Warner Bros. and DC Films’ Batgirl movie.

Keaton is returning to the role thirty years after his last outing in Batman Returns and looks set to replace Ben Affleck as the Dark Knight of the DC Extended Universe thanks to some Flashpointy multiverse shenanigans in The Flash. Looking at the Batgirl video below, the auburn rug atop the head of J.K. Simmons’s Jim Gordon would suggest we could be looking at a flashback scene here

EXCLUSIVE: 30 years later, Michael Keaton is still the goddamn #BATMAN! #Batgirl

Batgirl is directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (Bad Boys For Life) and stars Leslie Grace (In the Heights) as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, J.K. Simmons (Justice League) as Commissioner Jim Gordon, Micheal Keaton (The Flash) as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Brendan Fraser (Doom Patrol) as Firefly, Ivory Aquino (When They See Us) as Alysia Yeoh and Jacob Scipio (Bad Boys for Life), Rebecca Front (Avenue 5), Corey Johnson (Morbius) and Ethan Kai (Killing Eve) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.

Batgirl is set to premiere directly on HBO Max as an HBO Max Original.
