Michael Shannon hopes Zack Snyder gets involved with the Supergirl movie

March 20, 2020 by Samuel Brace

Michael Shannon, who worked with Zack Snyder on Man of Steel, hopes the director gets involved with the planned Supergirl movie.

DC’s library of recent movies is certainly a lot stronger of late, with more sure hits soon to come. Another DC film in development is a Supergirl movie and the last we heard, 22 Jump Street writer Oren Uziel was set to write but it has been all quiet since.

It seems some people would like to see Michael Shannon’s General Zod from Man of Steel make his return in Supergirl. When asked about this by Gold Coast Bulletin, the actor seemed intrigued by the rumours and expressed his desire for Zack Snyder to be involved:

“Wow, that’s interesting. I swear to God, I am not kidding — you are breaking this news to me. I will have to look into that. Zod again? I don’t know — it’s been a while. I am a little older and creakier now — I’m not sure I could do all the moves.

“Also, I have to say in complete and utter seriousness that I just loved working with Zack Snyder and that was a big part of it for me. I don’t know who’s making this Supergirl movie but I really treasure that experience with Zack. He’s a hell of a guy.”

It doesn’t appear that the Supergirl movie has any immediate plans to get going, and given Zack Snyder’s experience on Justice League, it remains to be seen whether the filmmaker would have any interest in returning to the DC Extended Universe. Is it something you’d like to see? Let us know in the comments or on our social media channels…
