Deadline is reporting that Oscar-nominee Michelle Williams is set for the lead role in Amazon Studios’ abortion drama This Is Jane Doe.
Directed by Kimberly Pierce (Boys Don’t Cry, Carrie) and based on Laura Kaplan’s nonfiction book The Story of Jane Doe, the film will see Williams as Jenny, a Chicago woman who founded and ran Jane, an underground abortion service which ran between 1968 and 1973, helping over 11,000 women by providing safe but illegal abortion services.

Williams can currently be seen in theaters opposite Amy Schumer in the comedy I Feel Pretty, and will next be seen alongside Tom Hardy in Sony’s Spider-Man spinoff Venom, which opens in October.
