Director Christopher McQuarrie has announced on Instagram that Hayley Atwell is set to join Tom Cruise and company in the cast of Mission: Impossible 7, which is set to shoot back-to-back with Mission: Impossible 8.

Atwell, who is best known for her role as Agent Peggy Carter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, responded with a series of posts on her own Instagram, stating: “Mission: Accepted. Though I’m not the sort to follow orders…”
Having taken the franchise to critical and commercial highs with Mission: Impossible – Fallout, McQuarrie and Cruise are set to reunite on the two new movies, which are set for release in July 2021 and August 2022 respectively. So far, the only other confirmed cast member for Mission: Impossible 7 is Rebecca Ferguson, who will be reprising her Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and Fallout role as Ilsa Faust.
